Top 10 Best Video Games Ever
EVER! Past, present, future! (Last Updated: 3-25-08)
10. Mario Kart: Double Dash!!
Console: Gamecube
The only good game for the Gamecube, in my opinion. It was where I got my real first taste of Mario Kart. I'd never played Super Mario Kart. I played Mario Kart 64 a bit and liked it. But Double Dash was great.
9. Rad Racer 2
Console: NES
Love that wheel! There's nothing better than licking the bottom of the wheel (if you don't know what I'm talking about, you're confused) and smacking it down on a surface to play for hours.
8. Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back
Console: PlayStation
I admit it! I had a brief affair with Sony. I strayed from Nintendo. But it was worth it! This game was down-right fun. It's been a while, but I recall riding a polar bear over an ice rink. (While we're talking about affairs with Sony, I also liked Cool Boarders.)
7. Donkey Kong Country
Console: Super NES
You also rode animals in this game - Ostriches, Swordfish, Rhinoceri... is that right? Rhinoceroses? Rhinoceri? Anyway, this game broke barriers, graphics-wise. I think Wikipedia said it had 2 1/2-D Graphics.
6. Wii Sports
Console: Wii
Speaking of breaking barriers, this one broke many wireless motion-sensing barriers. I remember when I was a little tyke, dreaming of a video game for golf where you could swing your arms and it would play. Now that's reality.
5. Super Smash Bros.
Console: Nintendo 64
Best. N64 Game. Ever. Smash Bros. altered the virtual fighting world by having a damage meter that goes up and not down. I can't imagine playing Smash Bros. with one of those old fashioned green bars that slowly turns red as you get hit.
4. Super Mario World
Console: Super NES
Aaaaahh... I remember the days before Yoshi turned into the creepy, high-pitched voice, prissy, girlish thing he's become now. You have no idea how many hours I've spent playing this game.
3. Tetris
Console: Various, primarily NES
My entire face went numb from playing this game once... not much else to say about it...
2. Super Mario Bros. 3
Console: NES
So many secrets to find. I remember the feeling of satisfaction you'd get after finding a secret that you thought was really great. I remember the feeling of disappointment you'd get after telling everyone you know about the secret and they'd all say, "I've known about that for ages."
1. Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Console: Wii
I play this game an average of five hours a day. You can have a fight between Mario, Sonic, and Snake. You can have a fight between Link and Bowser (or Mario and Ganondorf for that matter). You can have a fight between just about any prominent character in Nintendo history. This game rules.
