Ghostbusters: The Video Game
Everybody’s favorite ghostbusting oriented ’80s movie and sequel is becoming a modern video game for the PS2, PS3, XBOX 360, Nintendo DS, PC and Wii. The whole game will be a modern blast to the past. It’s set around Thanksgiving 1991. You can battle Vigo (II), The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man (I), and Slimer (I and II). You can play as Venkman, Ray, Egon, Winston, “Rookie”, and Slimer. Dan Aykroyd (Ray) said that this could be considered the third movie. I hope there’s a random free-for-all mode where you can play as the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man and just destroy everything.

Untitled Beatles “Rock Band”-style Game*
Well, I’ve been hoping for this for some time, and now according to thebeatles.com, it’s official. (I’m hoping for full compatibility with the Guitar Hero World Tour band set.) The best songs for the game would be “Helter Skelter,” (possibly the craziest rock song of the sixties) “Savoy Truffle,” and of course, “The End.” The game will reportedly have 45 master recordings. I’m hoping for something like Guitar Hero: Aerosmith or Guitar Hero: Metallica… Guitar Hero: The Beatles.

* has not been officially announced as a Wii game.

E3 was so jam packed with great games that it’s time for another edition of Upcoming Wii Games…

Wii Sports Resort
This is going to be everything we (or maybe just I) wanted from the original Wii Sports, and some stuff we didn’t really want. Jet Skiing looks like loads of fun, but too much work for me to consider as an actual game (I don’t like to work when I game). Frisbee throwing looks pretty lame, but… but I can’t think of a way to finish that sentence. Most of all I’m looking forward to fencing. I really wanted some kind of sword fighting in the original Wii Sports, and I’m very happy to see it in Wii Sports Resort.

Animal Crossing: City Folk
I’ve never played an Animal Crossing game before, but this looks pretty good, and after reading about it and such, I’m kicking myself for not getting in on the Animal Crossing craze earlier. Also this will be the first Wii game to feature WiiSpeak, the Wii’s very own voice chat feature. I’m shocked that Nintendo would release this, because they’ve been so obsessed with being family friendly, although I’m sure that this will only be allowed between your “Wii Friends” (which is the most ridiculous video game feature ever created).

Wii Music
This game was featured in the first Upcoming Wii Games post, and due to some strange delays it’s appearing again. Now we know more about it: you can conduct an orchestra, and play the drums using the Wii Balance Board as a pedals. Some songs are the Legend of Zelda Overworld Theme, and the Super Mario Bros. Theme.

Wario Land: Shake It
Hmmmm… Pros: Appears to be a sidescroller; a return to the classic series, Wario Land. Cons: Looks a bit too cutesie; I’m afraid that I could beat it in about a week.

Time for another installment of Upcoming Wii Games. With E3 just around the corner lots of news on great games is popping up.

Guitar Hero IV
Now with drums and vocals. Make your own guitar, make your own character, write your own songs. Can’t wait to make fifteen minute rock anthems. Also, according to a Newsweek article, there may be Beatles songs in this installment.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
This is what I’ve been waiting for since the Wii came out. What can I say?… The Wiimote makes for the perfect lightsaber duel. I had some worries about which of the trilogies this game would chronicle, and I was relieved to find out that I can play as Darth Vader and that was enough for me.

Mega Man 9
The first WiiWare game featured in an ” Upcoming Wii Games” post. The first Mega Man game from the original series in over ten years. The first Mega Man game with a female boss. Plus the price can’t be much because I don’t think they’ve sold anything on the Wii Shop Channel for over $20.

Kid Icarus Wii?
Another series revived after a long absence. I didn’t like the looks of Pit’s concept art, but a bad Kid Icarus adventure?… Impossible.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl II?
Sakurai has mentioned adding a handful of new characters, a continuation of the Subspace Emissary, and other new features that didn’t make it into the original.
