Top Five Wii Games

June 24th, 2008

I’m sitting here looking at the hundreds of dollars I’ve spent on Wii games, and I was bored so I’m blogging about it.
First of all, honorable mention goes to Wii Sports, Twilight Princess, and The Simpsons Game.
5. Mario Kart Wii. This is the second most frustrating video game I’ve ever played after Spy vs. Spy for the NES. But the very fact that I continue to play it over and over again says something… Nintendo knows how to keep you coming back.
4. Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. I think I spent more time playing this game than any other.
3. Super Paper Mario. Classic with a dollop of modern. Feels like the son of Super Mario Bros. 3.
2. Super Smash Bros. Brawl. If you’ve read my blog regularly you’re probably surprised that this isn’t number one, but I thought about this for a long time, and determined the main problem with this game is repetitiveness – too many of the characters are too similar. Sorry, Brawl but there’s one Wii game that takes the cake… or Mushroom as it were…
1. Super Mario Galaxy. This is like the grandson of Super Mario Bros. 3. There’s not one aspect of this game that I don’t like, from the overall gameplay to the background music. This game rocks!…

New Wii Games

November 14th, 2007

So I said a while ago that Super Paper Mario was currently my favorite game for the Wii, but now it’s got competition because I recently purchased Super Mario Galaxy and the Simpsons Game, both of which are crazily addicting.
The Simpsons Game is hilarious because Homer can turn into a giant ball when he eats too much and you can ram down those characters you never really cared for. For instance, I hate Kearney, so my Homer ball cornered him and just crushed him. He yells repeatedly stuff like, “Hey watch out! I have a child to care for!” and “My wrists are getting too fat for my wristbands.”
Super Mario Galaxy is madness. You are walking around a sphere. Imagine it! Craziness! I was a little worried about how the camera work would be since in Super Mario 64 it left much to be desired and in that game you weren’t walking on a sphere, but I assure you – the camera work is quite good in Super Mario Galaxy. It really reminds me of old school Mario. When Bowser’s ships appear at the beginning it plays the same music as when you’re on the ship in Super Mario Bros. 3. When you go down a pipe it makes the same noise it used to. I haven’t come across any yet, but apparently you can become fire Mario (for the first time in years), ghost Mario, and Bee Mario. Sweet!

Upcoming Wii Games

June 11th, 2007

Some upcoming Wii Games that interest me and might interest you:

The Simpsons Game

Release Date: October 30, 2007
Description: You can control Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and maybe more. It will be an action game, set like an episode of the show.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Release Date: December 3, 2007
Description: If you enjoyed either of the first two Super Smash Brothers than I’m guessing you’ll like this one. This game will see Wario, Zero Suit Samus, Solid Snake, Pit, and Meta Knight join some others. I’m especially looking forward to this one.

Super Mario Galaxy
Release Date: November 1, 2007
Description: This game will be similar to Super Mario 64. Mario will have to chase Bowser into outer space. So far all I know is that the “A” button will make Mario jump. I hope you can play as Luigi. He could always jump higher.

Wii Music
Also known as Wii Orchestra
Release Date: Sometime this year
Description: This will be the next game in the series after Wii Sports and Wii Play. You will be able to conduct an orchestra and play the drums. I have mixed feelings about this game. It’ll probably be pretty good, but I’m not sure if I’ll buy it although I most likely will.

Donkey Kong Barrel Blast
Formerly known as: Donkey Jet
Release Date: October 8, 2007
Description: A Donkey Kong jet pack racing game. To move you shake the Wii-Remote/Nunchuk. To turn right, just the Wii-mote, to turn left, just the nunchuk.

Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games
Release Date: November 2007
Description: Mario and Sonic go to the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics where they compete in some sports like swimming and table tennis. I have a feeling that this game will be similar to Wii Sports or Wii Play, but it will be better because you’ll get to see Mario, Sonic, Luigi, Tails, Yoshi, and Knuckles compete in the Olympics.

Kirby
Release Date: Unknown
Description: Your typical Kirby game. In this game Kirby will be able to have these abilities among others: Clean, Plasma, and Parasol. Exciting!

I look forward to most likely buying all these games and I hope you do too, because maybe if enough people buy these games, the Wii industry will pay me big bucks. Who knows? Anything is possible.
