My Animal Crossing Chronicles – 12/08

December 31st, 2008

So, I bought Animal Crossing: City Folk, complete with Wii Speak (even though I have no Wii Friends who own Animal Crossing), and I must say, I like this game. I enjoy “The Sims”-like aspect of it coupled with the hilarious sound effects when the animals are talking; I’m sure some people hate that, but I like it because it reminds me of Banjo-Kazooie (N64). The only thing really wrong with this game is that there is no conflict – there’s no princess-kidnapping Koopa, there’s no tyrannical sorcerer wishing to enslave Hyrule, and there’s not even a giant ape in my greenhouse. I’m hoping that one of the Animals in my town at some point goes crazy and starts kidnapping the other citizens and I have to go on a crazy adventure to save them.

This is me standing in my home. My town’s name is “Coolton,” after “Coolsville” didn’t fit. I’m currently working on paying off the 120,000 Bell loan that I got from Tom Nook to get construction on my house.

Yes, it’s New Year’s Eve Day in Coolton, just like everywhere else. I can’t decide if I’ll go to sleep at about 8:00 tonight (in real life) or if I’ll stay up and ring in the New Year in Coolton. (I’ll probably be asleep by 8:30… New Year’s is probably the most boring holiday; I’ve never understood why people stay up late to see a New Year… it’ll probably be a New Year the next morning too, so what’s the point of staying up late.)

A Note on these pictures: I love the camera mode in Animal Crossing: City Folk. You can press “1″ at any time, even when people are talking and get a great picture. It’s much better than the Super Smash Bros. Brawl camera mode where you have to pause the game to take a snapshot. I use an SD Converter Jump Drive that plugs into my USB port. In Brawl, you have to download an unofficial program to convert the snapshots to a readable file before you can do anything with them, but in Animal Crossing the pictures can be read by Picasa, and you can put them on the computer in a few seconds.

Banjo-Kazooie 3: Nuts & Bolts

July 17th, 2008

The release of Banjo-Kazooie 3: Nuts & Bolts is the most upsetting video game release of all-time.
First of all, I’m still angry that the game isn’t called “Banjo Threeie.”
But most of all I’m angry that the game will not be released for any Nintendo-owned console. The series is a classic Nintendo series. It’s like if the next Mario platformer was released only for PlayStation 3. What makes matters worse is the fact that from what I’ve seen in trailers, this game is gonna rock. You get to drive around in self-constructed vehicles blowing stuff up and decapatating large 8-bit Mario statues in order to save Spiral Mountain from being under the control of the evil witch Gruntilda. (In 20 years I’ll read that and say, “Huh?”)
The least they can do is release Banjo-Kazooie and/or Banjo-Tooie on Virtual Console to ease my pain.

SSBB Character Preferences

June 23rd, 2007

I’m sure that the creators of the game have already chosen all of the characters, but here I am going to release into cyberspace what characters I think should be playable, if not for Brawl, maybe for some crazy system of the future.
Okay, first of all, hats off to whoever picked SSBB’s current lineup. It’s good. I’d keep all of them in my crazy dream world. They are Fox McCloud, Kirby, Yoshi, Meta Knight, Samus, Zero-Suit Samus, Pit, Mario, Wario, Link, Pikachu, Zelda, Bowser, DK, and Snake.
Now here’s who I’d add: Sonic, Tails, Lakitu, Megaman, Banjo-Kazooie, Luigi, Ness, King Boo, Diddy Kong, Yoshi, Princess Peach, Master Higgins (the kid from Adventure Island), a generic-looking Mii, and Bart Simpson.
The last one might be a little controversial because he’s a TV character, but he’s also been in maybe more video games than DK.
If the creators of SSBB came up to me and asked me to pick one character from this list to be in SSBB, I would pick the Mii, and maybe instead of a generic-looking Mii, you could use one that you’ve created. That’d be sweeeeet.
