My Animal Crossing Chronicles – 12/08

December 31st, 2008

So, I bought Animal Crossing: City Folk, complete with Wii Speak (even though I have no Wii Friends who own Animal Crossing), and I must say, I like this game. I enjoy “The Sims”-like aspect of it coupled with the hilarious sound effects when the animals are talking; I’m sure some people hate that, but I like it because it reminds me of Banjo-Kazooie (N64). The only thing really wrong with this game is that there is no conflict – there’s no princess-kidnapping Koopa, there’s no tyrannical sorcerer wishing to enslave Hyrule, and there’s not even a giant ape in my greenhouse. I’m hoping that one of the Animals in my town at some point goes crazy and starts kidnapping the other citizens and I have to go on a crazy adventure to save them.

This is me standing in my home. My town’s name is “Coolton,” after “Coolsville” didn’t fit. I’m currently working on paying off the 120,000 Bell loan that I got from Tom Nook to get construction on my house.

Yes, it’s New Year’s Eve Day in Coolton, just like everywhere else. I can’t decide if I’ll go to sleep at about 8:00 tonight (in real life) or if I’ll stay up and ring in the New Year in Coolton. (I’ll probably be asleep by 8:30… New Year’s is probably the most boring holiday; I’ve never understood why people stay up late to see a New Year… it’ll probably be a New Year the next morning too, so what’s the point of staying up late.)

A Note on these pictures: I love the camera mode in Animal Crossing: City Folk. You can press “1″ at any time, even when people are talking and get a great picture. It’s much better than the Super Smash Bros. Brawl camera mode where you have to pause the game to take a snapshot. I use an SD Converter Jump Drive that plugs into my USB port. In Brawl, you have to download an unofficial program to convert the snapshots to a readable file before you can do anything with them, but in Animal Crossing the pictures can be read by Picasa, and you can put them on the computer in a few seconds.

Writing a Wikipedia Article – Part III

December 16th, 2008

Waiting for the article to be deleted…
After writing a Wikipedia article about something as insignificant as a country-western song written by a late night talk show host fourteen years ago, it’s only a matter of time before the article gets deleted.
Now I must endure the grueling process of waiting for some Wikipedia big-wig to notice my measly Wikipedia article and with one swipe of his mouse delete all my hard work.
The best way to get someone to notice your article is by linking it from another article. I have linked my page to the Stairway to Heaven page under the Success and Influence section. Hopefully my addition to this page won’t be deleted.

Writing a Wikipedia Article – Part II

December 15th, 2008

Writing the article…
In my previous article I promised that I’d tell what my Wikipedia article was about and here you go:
“Late Night Cowboy” – a song written by Conan O’Brien in 1994… obscure enough?
As you probably know, the important thing about writing a Wikipedia article is to include references so that it is less likely to be deleted. My article has a whopping two references – not bad for an article of it’s size.
