Bullet-Proof Ipod Shield

Friday, November 23rd, 2007

I'm considering possibly maybe purchasing an ipod touch if I ever get enough spare cash. So, anyway, I'm searching Amazon randomly and I come across a "Bullet-Proof Ipod Cover".

I can understand how it would be good to prevent scratches to the screen and what not, but who is going to be going out in such a dangerous life-threatening situation, with their video ipod? And, I just picture some teenage punks buying one and then shooting their ipod... I wonder how many people have bought that.
The funniest part is that it's just a little plastic sheet... that's bullet proof?

New Wii Games

Wednesday, November 14th, 2007

So I said a while ago that Super Paper Mario was currently my favorite game for the Wii, but now it's got competition because I recently purchased Super Mario Galaxy and the Simpsons Game, both of which are crazily addicting.
The Simpsons Game is hilarious because Homer can turn into a giant ball when he eats too much and you can ram down those characters you never really cared for. For instance, I hate Kearney, so my Homer ball cornered him and just crushed him. He yells repeatedly stuff like, "Hey watch out! I have a child to care for!" and "My wrists are getting too fat for my wristbands."
Super Mario Galaxy is madness. You are walking around a sphere. Imagine it! Craziness! I was a little worried about how the camera work would be since in Super Mario 64 it left much to be desired and in that game you weren't walking on a sphere, but I assure you - the camera work is quite good in Super Mario Galaxy. It really reminds me of old school Mario. When Bowser's ships appear at the beginning it plays the same music as when you're on the ship in Super Mario Bros. 3. When you go down a pipe it makes the same noise it used to. I haven't come across any yet, but apparently you can become fire Mario (for the first time in years), ghost Mario, and Bee Mario. Sweet!

Munchkin Suicide?

Monday, November 12th, 2007

I'm a big urban legend freak. Whenever I hear about one I have to hear more. So, the other day I heard about this urban legend: In the Wizard of Oz, in a forest scene, you can see a Munchkin hanging himself. So, fortunately, tbs was playing the Wizard of Oz like nine times a night so I watched it. And I saw it. It's creepy. But is it true?
The evidence against it: The biggest piece of evidence that it probably wasn't an actual Munchkin Suicide is that the forest scenes were filmed before the Munchkin scenes so no Munchkins would be at the MGM Studios.
What it could've also been: Possibly a stagehand falling out of tree, which tickles me because he wouldn't be dead and it's funny that someone falling out of tree wasn't caught by editors, producers, directors, actors, or other stagehands. I like to think that as Dorothy, the Scarecrow, and the TinMan were dancing out of the forest the guy fell out of the tree and Judy Garland started cracking up.
But more likely it was just a bird - a crane, a stork, or probably an emu. You see, for this scene they borrowed a bunch of birds from the Los Angelos Zoo to give the set a more outdoorsy feel. If you watch closely, which I did dozens of times, you'll realize that it's probably just an emu spreading it's wings.
Expansions on the myth: Some people have said that he hanged himself because he didn't get to be in the Lollipop Guild. But more commonly, it's stated that he hanged himself because of a broken heart... ? People have said that a stagehand hanged himself, not a munchkin. People have said that a stork hanged himself. As you can see, myths often get blown out of proportion.
As interesting as this urban legend is, it's not true.
